Structure & function of the sand preparation system
Sand processing plants prepare moulding sand or return sand for reuse. The typical process chain:
- Sand intake: Fresh or used sand is removed from silos or return belts.
- Cleaning: A magnetic separator removes metallic impurities.
- Conditioning: The sand is enriched with binding agents, water and additives.
- Sand mixer foundry: Uniform mixing takes place in a batch mixer or continuous mixer (e.. Eirich RV series).
- Tempering: A sand cooler regulates the temperature – particularly crucial for sensitive green sand.
